Volunteer

Miracle League is always looking for compassionate volunteers to assist at our games and events. We welcome sports teams, service groups, companies, families, and individual volunteers to sign up and be part of the miracle as an “Angel in the Outfield.” Spending time with our players is such a rewarding experience you will want to come back again and again!

FAQ

Do you need baseball experience?

Not at all! The kids are more interested in being your friend than how good you are at baseball. Just come and have fun, no baseball knowledge necessary. We will teach you anything you need to know when you get there.

Are there any other volunteer opportunities besides being an Angel in the Outfield?

Yes, lots! We have opportunities to be an announcer at games, work in the concession stand, coach, help at activities and events, and more! And if you’re a landscaper/plumber/carpenter/etc. looking for a place to use your skills for a good cause, we would welcome all help we can get! If you have questions about being involved or would like to get involved in a way other than being on the field, please contact info@miracleleaguelv.org and explain what you are interested in doing.

Can I get service hours for my school/service group?

Yes! We give 1.5 service hours per game. Our online volunteer system tracks what games you sign up for (and which ones you attend. We do take attendance) and can print your hours for you! We still recommend getting your paper signed every time you come (if we miss you while taking attendance, you won’t get credit for the day in our system so we won’t be able to verify hours if you bring the paper a week later).

Do I need experience with special needs kids?

No! We welcome everyone to come volunteer, no experience needed. You can interact with our kids just like any other kid! Talk to them, ask them how their day was, play games with them. Just treat them like everyone else.

What should I wear?

Weather appropriate clothes and sneakers (no cleats, please!) Our field is outside and the ground is made out of rubber. Wear whatever you would be comfortable in outside and closed-toed shoes you can be active in.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

We ask that volunteers be 13 years or older to volunteer on their own. We welcome adults to bring their younger children with them and volunteer together. Adults with young kids will be considered one volunteer and placed together.

What is the commitment / How long are the games?

There is no long term commitment. You don’t have to come every week, etc. Our online sign up shows you which games need volunteers and you sign up for whichever ones fit in your schedule. Each game is 60-90 minutes, so it’s not a huge time commitment.

Where are the games located?

Every game is located at our beautiful, state-of-the-art field in scenic Schnecksville off of Route 309.

5858 Sell Road, Schnecksville, PA 18078

What amenities are at your ball park?

We have four bathrooms, including family-style bathrooms. We also have a fully stocked concession stand, filled to the brim with your favorite ball park fare including hotdogs, sodas, nachos, soft pretzels, candy, and more! Our concession stand is cash only and most items only cost $1-2.

Do I need clearances?

Maybe. The short answer is if you are an adult volunteering for more than 10 hours, we require certain background checks. Although you will never be alone with our kids and their parents are always on site, we do require these checks for anyone who will be around the kids for extended periods of time. So your group can come 6 times a year before we ask you to do FREE background checks. More information on background checks can be found at the very bottom of this page.
